Road trips can be one of the best ways to see the country and create priceless memories with friends. But it takes some work and companionship for the trip to go as planned and become one of the top rated pop up campers. Decisions should always consider the ideas and needs of each man or woman who will be traveling with you, because if you don’t take care of everyone’s needs, someone will be unhappy and likely ruin any excursion you choose. These tips will help everyone enjoy their trip across the country.
Set a Route
There’s something to be said about being impulsive on a road trip, but unfortunately, the pandemic has made this carefree form of travel obsolete for the time being. To keep yourself and your fellow travelers safe, you need a good strategy. That way, you’ll also know where to find medical facilities in case you need them.
Stay Organized
Google Drive is a great place to manage packing lists and other itineraries you need to share with others. After thinking about a general strategy, I create a template for trip planning, then discuss it with others who are going on the trip and ask them to write down what they would like to see or do along the way. This makes it much easier to choose what we can include, and everyone gets a chance to do something they really want to do on the trip.
Once you have a general itinerary for the hike, look for points of interest, areas you want to stop and observe, actions you want to do along the way. Add them to a tour. You’ll need to decide if you want to book accommodations along the way. Depending on your plans, it may be very difficult to find clean, safe, and inexpensive lodging without a reservation. Also, lodging overlooks the party nights. Last year I had to go 50 miles out of my way to find lodging over Memorial Day weekend because I didn’t have a reservation.
Pack Your Stuff Wisely
While it’s wonderful to have some conveniences while camping, using a bunch of stuff can take just as long to find things and end up in a huge mess because there’s so much stuff to sort through. My partner ended up borrowing things on one trip because she couldn’t find them in her vehicle. Then, when you get home, you have a lot of laundries to do. It’s best to try to provide the ideal amount, even though sometimes it’s hard to do. I tend to go for less is more and do without something or buy it if I really need it. It’s amazing what you can do without and don’t overlook it.
Inspect Your Car Beforehand
Sudden overloads and punctures can contain an unnecessary amount of anxiety in the itinerary of some road travelers. When some accidents can’t be avoided, it’s almost always a good idea to have your car checked before every trip. Here are a few things to check. First, you should perform standard maintenance on your vehicle. Make sure the fluids in your car are full.
You also need to take a look at the spare tire. Make sure that the spare tire has an atmosphere and is in good shape in case you need it. Also, now, some cars do not come with a spare tire or if you are using a lease, check to see if there is a spare tire. It’s good to know if you have one before you need one. You may want to read about how to set up your spare tire ahead of time for extra credit.
